AUSTRIA

Where nature and hospitality are one. Austria has nine provinces: Burgenland, Carinthia, Lower Austria, Upper Austria, Salzburg, Styria, Tyrol, Vorarlberg and Vienna. Each of these provinces has its own state government headed by the governor, who represents the province. Austria has approximately 9 million inhabitants.

Among others, Austria’s treasures include nine world heritage sites. Austria identifies itself as an eco-destination. Organic products are on offer, and the use of energy is carefully monitored. The country is proud to be one of the world’s leading destinations for sustainable tourism.
In winter as well as summer, Austria offers fantastic opportunities to spend time outdoors:
snow-capped mountain peaks, legendary après-ski and Austrian hospitality will make a stay in the country unforgettable. Enjoy Nordic skiing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding or paragliding. If you prefer less strenuous activities, you will find romantic Christmas markets between November and New Year’s Eve, or you could visit one of several spectacular summit platforms, such as the one at the Stubai Glacier.
In summer you can enjoy a river cruise on the Danube, a hiking tour on one of many hiking trails, or a mountain bike tour in the Alps, or you can just relax by one of the wonderful lakes. You could also visit the Salzburg Festival or enjoy a typical Austrian meal in a mountain hut.

SWITZERLAND

Switzerland is located in the middle of the Alps, consisting of 26 cantons with distinct features. There are 4 languages spoken in Switzerland: German in the north, east and middle, Italian in the south, French in the west and Romansh in some local regions. The biggest cities are Zurich, Geneva and Basel, while its capital city Bern is rather small. Switzerland is not part of the EU and has therefore also a different currency: Swiss Francs.

Due to its location in the middle of the Alps, Alpine Tourism is the most important in the country: whether in the winter time where you can slide down the mountains with ski, or in the summer time where you can climb them. There are of course numerous other options to spend the days outdoors, from different sport activities, to one of the big lakes of Switzerland: Lake Constance, Lake Geneva or the beautiful Lake Maggiore. Switzerland has a lot of eco-friendly options to offer. You can easily discover the country by public transport and explore the different regions and plateaus with the famous Glacier Express.
